Three can’t-miss sessions for public cloud fans at MWC 2022

Will I see you at Mobile World Congress (MWC) this year? The biggest event in telco is back to its regular schedule, running February 28 to March 3, 2022, in Barcelona (and also online).

Three can’t-miss sessions for public cloud fans at MWC 2022

Last year, TelcoDR took over Ericsson’s sponsorship and booth space when it pulled out of the event at the last minute. We created the legendary CLOUD CITY and made our case to the industry that telcos need to ride the dragon and move to the public cloud ASAP.

This year, you can find us in a virtual CLOUD CITY, along with over 30 exhibitors with cloud-native solutions for communication service providers (CSPs), and listed as a featured exhibitor on the MWC app and website.

All the keynotes, panels, and presentations at MWC can be overwhelming, so I picked the three can’t-miss sessions for telcos making their move to the public cloud. You’re welcome! Be sure to add these to your calendar. And be sure to find me at the event: I’ll be passing out cloud goodies!

Keynote 4: Delivering a New World

This is your chance to hear from Adam Selipsky, the CEO of Amazon Web Services (AWS). This is the first time a hyperscaler CEO will speak at MWC, so it definitely announces the cloud has arrived in telco.

Location:

MWC Keynote Stage, Hall 4 and online

Session time:

Tuesday, March 1
09:30–11:00 AM CET
12:30–2:00 AM PST
4:30–6:00 PM SGT

Public Cloud: The Key Questions

Can I list my own talk? Since this is my blog, I think I can do it. I’ve been working on my talk for weeks and weeks, and it’s going to blow your mind! I’ll open the session, which includes folks from AWS, DISH, Mavenir, and Amdocs talking about—what else?—the public cloud and why the time is NOW to make your move to the public cloud.

Location:

MWC Stage B, Hall 5
(in-person only)

Session time:

Wednesday, March 2
10:45–12:00 AM CET

Is It Time to Embrace Collaboration with the Cloud?

This session features technologists from three leading telcos, plus AWS, Nokia, and Neos Networks, a business telecom provider. The telcos—AT&T, Deutsche Telekom, and Telefónica—have all embraced the public cloud, so I’m looking forward to hearing about their experiences, successes and challenges.

Location:

MWC Stage B, Hall 5
(in-person only)

Session time:

Wednesday, March 2
4:00–5:00 PM CET

Join us virtually in CLOUD CITY

In between those sessions, you’ll have plenty of time to visit us in CLOUD CITY! We’ve built an all-virtual showcase devoted to public cloud innovation where you can meet more than 30 of our favorite cloud-native software vendors and take their next-generation solutions for a test-drive.

You can attend from anywhere in the world by registering here, and it’s 100% free!

Be sure to visit our own Totogi and Skyvera, as well as:

  • Allot, a network security solutions provider and one of Dish’s providers
  • CloudFix, a sweet cloud cost optimization tool for AWS, and
  • Celona, whose unique 5G LAN solution enables enterprise IT and industrial IoT teams to set up their own cellular wireless network.

See the full list of vendors here, then request a meeting with any (or all!) of them to get some dedicated face time.

BONUS: You can also watch my CLOUD CITY keynote. Plus, you’ll get all the latest and breaking news from CLOUD CITY vendors and cloud-first exhibitors via the CLOUD CITY News feed.

Don’t forget the hyperscalers

Be sure to make time to visit the Big 3 hyperscalers in the MWC exhibit halls. They can be your best partner in your move to the public cloud. AWS has stands in Hall 2.1, as well as on the Upper Walkway. Google LLC and Google Ireland Limited are listed as separate exhibitors, but both will have stands nearby also in Halls 2 and 2.1 (mostly presenting as Android (weird?) but I’m going to check it out). Microsoft is going big and presenting as Azure for Operators over in “Baller Hall” 3.

Can’t wait to see you there!
